Last few months!!

Oh dear, nearly another year gone and I've not up dated, new years resolution is to keep this blog up to date!!
It's been a busy year of making and selling at some great fairs. The Christmas market that I organised for Manchester Craft Mafia was a great success. It was held in the lovely venue of The Whitworth Art Gallery. Hopefully we will be asked back again this year.
My workshops are going great. I've continued with the weekly ones in Liverpool, for Alcohol Service Knowsley with a lovely group of people. Have continued to do some great sessions with year 10 at Bury Church, making textile fruit and veg!!
During the summer I worked on a fantastic community project in Salford, all about the Bridgewater Canal. The final piece was a wall hanging displayed in Salford Museum and Art Gallery, soon to go on tour in venues around Salford!
Another school venture was a heritage lottery funded project at Cadishead Primary School, making a wall hanging all about Chat Moss. It was a lovely week spent in a fantastic school, working with year 6 pupils. The hanging is now displayed in the entrance hall.

Bows and corsages!

I have had a go at doing some simple knitted corsages, embellished with cute vintage buttons, using some gorgeous wool I got from Purl City Yarns in Manchester.

I have also made some larger bows, using some beautiful vintage hand painted silk. They look great on the front of a jumper.

Harris Tweed is not just for winter !!

Here is a selection of some more cute bags made from Harris Tweed, which I will be selling at Crafft fairs throughout the summer.

They open out and fasten with a zip and look nice hanging off your wrist.

Summer is coming!

Now summer is nearly upon us I have been creating some new bags and accessories. Some still incorporating Harris Tweed, but some with vintage fabrics. It is also the season of craft fairs once again and I'm trying a new weekly one at Islington Mill. I will be there tomorrow 8th May.

Happy New Year

Well at last xmas is over and a new year begins, with new years resolutions! The first, to make sure I keep blogging! To set up my website and do more craft events and approach more galleries etc to sell my work. So all ideas and contacts would be greatly welcomed.
The christmas period was a really busy time for making and selling, with an event almost every weekend. The craft mafia xmas fair was a success again at the Whitworth Art Gallery despite the weather, dedicated shoppers trudged through the snow to reach us.
Towards the end of last year it was also a busy time for workshops. I worked with a lovely group of people in Knowsley for five weeks creating a banner based on their city of Liverpool. When it is up on the wall, I will post a photo. I also did a great workshop for the Whitworth as part of the craft mafia 'takeover', we made lovely bow brooches with Harris Tweed and silk. So far this year I have done one workshop in Gorton in a great community centre, where we made fashion accessories from felt and tweed. More workshops are planned over the next few months, in schools, in galleries and with community groups, which will be great. So the next few weeks I will be designing my new collection for Spring/Summer, oh yes it will be soon upon us. I may have a go at making some dickie bows for men!!
The recent images are some of the bags etc that I made for the xmas markets.
